Internet Predators In recent years, the Internet has become the number one choice for doing research. A person can find information on just about anything. There are websites devoted to cooking recipes, musicians, schools, and pornography. Many schools will even allow students to apply for admission over the Internet. Schools such as California State University, Northridge give students an option to register for classes through the school website, making it quick and easy to get classes. The Internet is truly the information superhighway. Not everyone who accesses the Internet uses it for research. Many people, especially young people use the Internet for e-mail and chatting. Chat rooms and instant messengers are becoming more†¦show more content†¦Yet, the reality is that a woman may be talking to someone who is on parole for sexual abuse. There is absolutely no way to know whether or not someone is lying about their identity. I personally have always chatted on the Internet with skepticism. There are precautions one can take to prevent getting in trouble on the Internet. Some general rules one should follow include not giving out ones phone number, not giving out a picture of ones self, and not meeting anyone in person that one met on the Internet. Giving out a persons picture is one of the most common errors on the Internet. It never seizes to amaze me that the first question out of someones mouth when they send me an instant message is if I have a picture. Although I do, I say no, unless it is someone that I positively know. Upon receiving someone elses picture, I often wonder if that is what the person really looks like. The world is full of dishonesty; it does not surprise me that some people use another persons picture. People have been known to pretend to be someone they are not while chatting. I admit that I have pretended to be someone else when I was really bored. I have pretended to be older than I am, I have pretended to be someone of the opposite sex, and I have pretended to be a very aggressive, outgoing person. I happen to be a person who is too passive most of the time. Human Resource Development (HRD) is the process of providing training and learning, for both career and organisational development, to improve overall effectiveness (Noe and Winkler, 2012). Business today is achieved in a highly networked world, where employees are a vital asset (Balakrishnan Srividhya, 2007). HRD is concerned with the development of human capital for the benefit of both the employees and the organisation (Balakrishnan Srividhya, 2007). It is inevitable that different levels or stakeholders within an organisation will hold differing perceptions on HRD due to the ever-changing nature and the multi-level outcomes (Garavan et. al, 2007). There are three broad groups of stakeholders of HRD in an organisation, these are: employees, line managers and the organisation or senior management. Human resource development can provide a number of benefits to each of these levels if implemented effectively. The benefits of HRD are best achieved within a learning culture (Oâ€℠¢Donnel, McGuire Cross, 2006). In order to create a learning culture all three groups identified must have positive perceptions of human resource development. HRD must be seen to be providing benefits to each three of these groups in order to gain their support. The company slowly moved away from their basic functions due to their inefficient administrative and management functions and it has been seen that it had led to their fall in the airline industry. The main factor that led to the fall of Kingfisher Airlines had been due to their various scams. One of the most the biggest scams that Kingfisher made was service tax evasion. The company collected the tax amount from the passengers during their journey and did not pay the tax to the Service Tax Department. They used the money for other purposes that were not necessary. The tax evasion strategy of the firm did not last long as the Service Tax Department raided the airline industry and it was seen that the company had a huge amount of tax that was due. Kingfisher Airlines was declared as a Non- Performing Asset as by various bankers as they were unable to pay back the loans they had taken from the bank. Kingfisher Airlines during their commencement of their business had a considerable amount of goodwill due to their other companies. However, with time, as the real performance of the firm was discovered that they had been facing losses and had a huge amount of debt. The disclosure of the true performance of the firm led to the fall in their stock price and thereby lowering their goodwill in the market. Kingfisher Airlines tried to recover from their distress by acquiring Air Deccan as they thought it would increase their profitability and thereby improve their position in the airline industry. However, it is because of their estimating power the company did not look into the issues that could to lead to their disaster. The company overlooked the cautionary signs that were inherent with the acquisition of Air Deccan and therefore, lead to the disaster for the firm.
